Alexandria
Objective
ALEXANDRIA provided a user-oriented, Internet-based knowledge platform which helps users to publish, process, annotate and search for content in large multimedia data collections. ALEXANDRIA provided tools and other aids to facilitate simple and intuitive use. A further aim was to link semantic technologies with social search services and to combine technical automatic systems and intellectual content.
ALEXANDRIA and the current project CONTENTUS collaborated closely, especially in the following three areas:
- Data model / ontology as the basis for different tasks or roles such as semantic search, the display and interlinking of metadata
- User interface / visualisation systems for semantic searching, navigation and tagging in multimedia knowledge databases
- Tagging framework /community in interaction with the ontology for structured content enrichment by users and the incorporation of user comments in searches
